Class description:

The Medau approach is one of whole body natural movement with emphasis on using the body correctly.  Good posture and body alignment are vital in the maintenance of life long good health and Medau aims not only to improve these, but also to help achieve a greater awareness of their importance. Like other exercise methods each session includes all the basic fitness elements in a balanced way, those of strength, stamina, co-ordination, suppleness and cardio vascular work.

Medau developed from sport, dance and music and is suitable for everyone.  Using small apparatus such as balls, clubs and hoops, this great style of dynamic movement will improve your posture and body alignment.  With its natural flowing quality, Medau will lift the spirits and increase confidence whilst encouraging the body to move with energy, strength, stamina, suppleness and co-ordination.

Teacher: Jan Alderman – a qualified Medau teacher, fully insured and DBS checked.

About the teacher:  Jan has been involved in Medau movement for over 30 years as a class member, a teacher, and performer. As a member of the Medau National Display Team she has performed in the Royal Albert Hall and locations around Britain and represented Great Britain and British Gymnastics abroad. Jan performed in and choreographed the local area Medau display team and as a member of the Surrey Dance Collective she has choreographed and performed a fusion of Medau and contemporary dance at various locations including GLive. As some of you know Jan currently teach ice skating at Spectrum Guildford, and for some years has been Head coach at the seasonal Christmas Hampton court ice rink.  In her experience Medau movement can greatly enhance any sport or style of dance, help with everyday life and rehabilitation after major injury.  Other interests include theatre, music and singing, walking and travelling.
